Mother Couderc Retreat House
Accommodations and Grounds
The Retreat Ministry of the Marian Servants of Divine Providence welcomes all who seek to renew and deepen their relationship with the Lord.
The picturesque setting of the House of Prayer captures the atmosphere of “old Florida” and is located on the coast of Tampa Bay. These quiet surroundings offer many ideal locations for one to contemplate God’s love and mercy while either sitting on a quiet bench near the water, relaxing on a rocking chair on one of the many outside porches, or even walking through the Stations of the Cross around the small lake. Guests remark that the wild life, including dolphins, egrets, and a myriad of fish, along with the beautiful Florida sunrises and sunsets, help to enrich their meditations as they walk the grounds or stand at the water’s edge.
The newly built Mother Couderc retreat house host most guests and offers a large gathering room with plenty of places for prayer and reflection, small private chapel for retreatants only, kitchen and dining room, outside patio used for dining or journaling, and 20 private bedrooms each with its own bathroom. Two of the 20 bedrooms are oversized to accommodate those with special physical needs. There are five other retreat houses on the grounds used for larger retreats, each with a private chapel, kitchen, and social area.
Ignatian Retreats
The Retreat Ministry offers 5 and 8-day Ignatian retreats and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. All private retreats are directed by staff members who have been trained and certified through the Cenacle School of Spiritual Direction. The retreats follow the Ignatian format recommended by St. Ignatius of Loyola where the retreatant meets daily with a director who suggests particular Scriptures relating to themes, such as God’s love, mercy, call to serve. They also spend three to four prayer sessions each day meditating on these Scriptures and praying for the related graces.

IPF Alumni Retreats
The Marian Servants of Divine Providence joyfully commit to supporting priests and seminarians through fervent intercession and by providing a place for their ongoing formation and spiritual renewal. Since 2009, the Institute of Priestly Formation has partnered with the Marian Servants of Divine Providence at the Cenacle of Our Lady of Divine Providence to host its semi-annual priests’ retreats bringing an increasing number of priests to our campus. The mission of IPF is to form seminarians, priests, and bishops in holiness and accompany them in their ongoing spiritual growth, so they can more effectively lead others to Christ. Inspired by the biblical-evangelical spirituality of Ignatius Loyola, these retreats help priest commit to a personal, deep, and sustained spiritual communion with the Trinity. IPF welcomes all alumni to renew their priesthood in this 8-day retreat directed by IPF.
The eight-day alumni Ignatian retreat features:
- Silent Atmosphere
- Daily Mass
- Daily Spiritual Direction with IPF representative
